Our Jackson Home and City of Jackson Bring in Trinity Rivard to Create Mural at the AMP in Jackson, Tennessee

Jackson, Tenn (January 27, 2025)- Our Jackson Home and the City of Jackson are thrilled to announce that Trinity Rivard, an acclaimed artist chosen from a competitive pool of 73 applicants nationwide, will design and install a new mural at the AMP in Downtown Jackson, Tennessee. The mural will be installed on the staircase walls directly to the right of the AMP stage and the installation will take place in April, with an unveiling to the public during the Vintage Makers Music and Arts Festival on Saturday, April 26th, 2025.

Rivard was chosen by a selection committee of the City of Jackson’s Public Art Commissioners and site stakeholders of the AMP. The process for choosing Rivard for the project follows Dr. Shawn Pitts’s five year public art strategic plan, “Unifying Spaces: 25/30”, which was released in 2024. The plan outlines a detailed process for growing the City of Jackson’s public art collection.

Trinity Rivard is a public artist from Tampa, Florida who is dedicated to creating vibrant, community-focused works that inspire and uplift. Through custom designs tailored to each community, he infuses local history, culture, and stories into every piece, fostering a deep connection with those who engage with the art. His collaborative approach involves working closely with residents during both the design and installation processes, allowing the artwork to evolve organically through feedback and shared input.

“While I am a professional visual artist, my father and brother were both musicians whose love of music always inspired me and shaped my creative expression and upbringing. Therefore, when I saw the opportunity to create a music themed mural at the AMP (thanks to Our Jackson Home), I immediately became drawn to the idea of paying homage to the musicians whose legacy is rooted in Jackson's history,” Rivard said. “Music inspires us all, and when working on my art proposal, I thought about the musicians born in Jackson and how their music is the soundtrack to so many Jacksonian's lives, how their songs are associated with so many memories, and how their music encapsulated time. The mural, when complete, will embody the spirit of the Jacksonian music scene, past and present, while harnessing the unique energy of the AMP.”

To ensure the mural is reflective of the Jackson community, Rivard is inviting the public to participate in its creation. All Jacksonians are encouraged to fill out a survey to share their thoughts on which historic musical figures of Jackson should be featured in the final mural design. The survey can be accessed here.

In addition to the mural installation, Rivard will host an artist workshop during his visit. This workshop is open to all artists, and will provide a behind-the-scenes look at his mural installation process and offer valuable insights for aspiring and professional artists alike. Details about the workshop will be released at a later date.

"The City of Jackson is proud to support this exciting new addition to our Arts District," Mayor Scott Conger said. "Trinity Rivard's vision for the AMP mural reflects the rich musical history of our community and will add to the excitement that the AMP brings to Jackson. We hope everyone takes an opportunity to engage with its creation and look forward to seeing this work come to life!"
