Gift Guide: Last Minute Local Love
I love Valentines Day. Regardless of your relationship status, I think it’s always a good idea to celebrate the people you love. Even so, it’s easy to put off getting something for the important folks in your life until the last minute. You’ve got a day or so left to shop, so we’ve put together a few ideas so you can show some love to your local businesses, too.
IN BLOOM
Didn’t call the florist? Create your own bouquet from the fresh flower bar at Parker House, or stop by Morris Nursery and grab a potted plant that will outlast a fresh bouquet. Just like your love.
MADE WITH LOVE
If you value experiences over things, the Jackson area offers plenty of opportunities to learn something new together. Try a gift card for a pottery class at East Mitchell Clay or an indigo dye workshop at Garner Blue Shop.
YOU’RE SO CLASSIC
Don’t get caught wandering the isles of Kroger. Pick up a bottle of wine from Crown Winery or a growler from Hub City Brewing, a case of strawberries and some fancy chocolate from Grubbs Grocery, or a candle from Indigo Scents.
SWEET TOOTH
Grab several slices of cheesecakes to sample the variety of flavors at Mama Baudos. For the pastry lover, load up a box of traditional Mexican pastries from Leslie's Bakery. Got little ones? Treat them to a dozen of Shirley’s frosted sugar cookies - they come in a fun variety of designs.
NO RESERVATIONS
Grab your gal pals and head to a showing of Sleepless in Seattle at Ned Flicks, and grab drinks at Chandelier or Blacksmith afterwards.
