Podcast No. 45: Russ Pflasterer & Matthew Marshall of City Fellowship Baptist Church

When Russ Pflasterer and Matthew Marshall met as teacher and student in Russ's freshman art class at Jackson-Central Merry High School, they had no idea that they would be leading a church together within ten years. Kevin Adelsberger and Katie Howerton sit down with these two pastors of City Fellowship Baptist Church to discuss their story of finding a common passion to see racial reconciliation made manifest through the Church in Jackson, Tennessee.

If you are interested in visiting City Fellowship Baptist Church, Sunday services happen weekly at 4:00 p.m. at 209 East Lafayette Street in downtown Jackson. To learn more about their ministries and mission, visit their website and like them on Facebook.

Kevin Adelsberger and his wife Renae moved to Jackson for college (proud Union alumni) and have stayed every since. Jackson has since taken hold of Kevin’s heart, and he looks forward to continuing to grow with the city. Kevin opened Adelsberger Marketing in 2014 and saw working with Our Jackson Home as a way that he could serve the city he loves. Kevin and Renae are members of First Baptist Church and volunteer with the youth group there and with Madison County CASA.

Originally from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Katie Howerton moved to Jackson in 2011 to study Graphic Design and Drawing at Union University. She discovered Our Jackson Home in January 2015 and used it as a guinea pig for her senior design project, creating the first issue of Our Jackson Home: The Magazine. After graduating she was given leadership over Our Jackson Home at theCO, where she now runs the blog, designs the magazine, and coordinates events. She and her husband Jordan live in Midtown and are active members of City Fellowship Baptist Church.
