Asia Garden

Asia Garden is the perfect pick for all things Eastern. Whether it's their super affordable Japanese and Chinese lunch specials or their more glamorous sushi menu, there's no wondering why they were awarded best Chinese and Japanese food by The Jackson Sun Readers' Choice Awards in 2015.

The Baker's Rack

The Baker's Rack is a downtown classic serving up Southern classics and the best baked goods you can find in Jackson. The casual and quaint café environment mirrors the simple but flavorful breakfast and lunch options.
El Primo Express

Pick up all eight varieties of El Primo Express's $1.25 tacos as you pass by the BP on the corner of Old Hickory and the Bypass. You can also choose from other Mexican classics like quesadillas, burritos, and Carne Asada. (The salsa's spicy, though, so proceed with caution!)
La Cubanita

La Cubanita's empanadas have become a Jackson staple over the last few years. Choose between a few different varieties (including vegetarian) on Saturdays at the West Tennessee Farmers' Market, or call them to cater your next event and try their other Cuban classics.

ComeUnity Café not only serves up wholistic meals made up of almost entirely local ingredients (many from their own garden); they also have a wholistic mission of feeding, loving, and dignifying the people of Jackson. Woodstock Bake Shop

Woodstock Bake Shop has blown up across Jackson with its simply delicious cupcakes. Swing by for their famous chicken salad sandwich, or, better yet, get their perfect $5 box lunch with a sandwich, drink, and cupcake of your choice.

Picasso offers some of the best casual but elegant dining you can find in Jackson. Though famous for their pies, they've also got a great selection of sandwiches, salads, and more—as well as a well stocked bar. Don't miss their $6 daily lunch specials that will split your bill nearly in half!
Blue Box Eatery

We're so glad to welcome Blue Box to the Jackson food truck game! You'll smell the Memphis flavors for miles, but the taste is even better. Try their wings, loaded nachos, and everything else while relaxing at one of their shaded picnic tables, or have them cater your next event.
Brooksie's Barn

Brooksie's Barn is nestled back in a quiet, wooded corner of Oil Well Road, its large windows facing a quaint pond to make your Southern dining experience all the better. Their $9 lunch buffet will load you up with fried chicken, mashed potatoes, cornbread, and anything else you could think of. Not hungry enough for all-you-can-eat? Order your favorite dish off the a la carte menu, and don't forget to use the drive-thru when you're in a hurry.
Grubb's Grocery

Grubb's Grocery is your perfect summer picnic supplier, especially for those of you who love all things organic. Grab a hodgepodge of fresh produce, lunch meat, and snacks, or visit their salad and soup bar or sandwich station for a lunch fix under $10.

Catfish Cabin

Catfish Cabin has got the perfect selection of down-home country cookin', including shrimp, gumbo, hush puppies, and (of course) catfish. Check out their $9 and under lunch menu, then come back to dinner for some more glamorous options like lobster tail, fried oysters, and Angus steaks. Make sure to enjoy a few relaxing moments on their rocking chair-filled porch and to snag a photo of their giant mounted moose!
El Mariachi Tacos

Looks like there's two taco trucks in town! El Mariachi offers a small menu of tacos, quesadillas, and tortas, only $1.50 per taco and $6 for the other options. Enjoy trying on their sequin-covered sombrero and chatting it up with the cooks during your short wait, and, if your brave, try the extra spicy red salsa.
Originally from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Katie Howerton moved to Jackson in 2011 to study Graphic Design and Drawing at Union University. She discovered Our Jackson Home in January 2015 and used it as a guinea pig for her senior design project, creating the first issue of Our Jackson Home: The Magazine. After graduating she was given leadership over Our Jackson Home at theCO, where she now runs the blog, designs the magazine, and coordinates events. She and her husband Jordan live in Midtown and are active members of City Fellowship Baptist Church.
